#### The Numbers
Over the Christmas period, more than 450 migrants crossed the English Channel on Christmas Day alone. This marked the first arrivals in over a week, as previous poor weather conditions had halted crossings. The total number of arrivals for 2024 has reached over 35,000, a 20% increase from the previous year.
#### The Journey
The journey across the Channel is fraught with danger. Migrants often travel in overcrowded and unseaworthy small boats, facing the risk of capsizing and hypothermia.
#### The Response
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper claimed efforts have been made to dismantle the organised crime gangs that facilitate these crossings, with increased cooperation between the UK and European authorities. This is like a broken record that is trotted out by every politician regardless of party and im sick of hearing the same old verbal diarrhea.
We need to stop listening to politicians and take action ourselves to stop the tidal wave of unvetted refugees landing on our shores. The only way this will stop will be to enforce a change in the way we are goverened and block our borders using our navy. We prevent them crossing over the French line then its a French problem. They will not want to be overun and they will in turn protect their border and then countries will start the push back. Or is that just too simple ?
